How to use the Accu-Chek® 360° View tool
Tools from Roche Diabetes Care to help you understand the numbers behind your blood glucose readings.
Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for some time, it is important to manage your blood glucose. Monitoring your blood glucose (or sugar) levels performs an important role in helping you understand what is happening on a day-to-day basis.
Remember that one blood glucose value from a check does not tell you the whole story! When you consistently check at the right time and frequently enough in a structured manner, blood glucose patterns emerge. This can give you a better understanding of the fluctuations in your blood glucose, which are linked to your daily habits.
Roche Diabetes Care offers a number of tools to assist you to monitor and understand your blood glucose values in a more meaningful way. The Accu-Chek® 360° View allows you to record your carb/meal size, insulin, energy levels, any activity and your blood glucose over a period of three days to spot patterns.
This simple paper tool can help you address issues step by step, such as:
- Hyperglycaemia (high blood glucose)
- Values in your target range
- Using this tool with your Healthcare Professional's guidance may help you lower your HbA1c.¹
Simply record your blood glucose readings, estimate your meal size and your energy levels before and 2 hours after breakfast, lunch and dinner, and before bed for 3 consecutive days.
Then follow these simple steps to understand your results.
Step 1: Look for which blood sugars are out of the target range.* i.e. above or below the yellow bar.
• Low blood sugars (below the target range)
• High blood sugars (above the target range)
In this example, most blood glucose readings are above the yellow target range area.
Step 2: When and how often are your blood sugars out of range?
• Is it your fasting blood sugar when waking that is too high?
OR
• Is your blood sugar going too high after meals? Did this occur all 3 days?
In this example, all 3 early morning readings were too high. Blood glucose levels also increased consistently after meals.
Step 3: Why are your blood sugars out of range?
If you notice a trend over the 3 days, for example, your blood sugar being high after every supper, you can start to understand possible causes. Maybe your meal is too high in carbs or perhaps you need to adjust your insulin therapy. You might notice the impact that other events such as stress and exercise have on your blood glucose.
Step 4: What action can you take?
With the help of your healthcare team, you can fine-tune your meal plan or portion sizes, activity, medications or other factors. Take your completed tool to your next appointment so you can discuss possible solutions with your Healthcare Professional.
